A cantora Taylor Swift acaba de atingir mais um feito histórico: o álbum “The Life of a Showgirl”, lançado em 3 de outubro, bateu impressionantes 4,002 milhões de unidades vendidas nos Estados Unidos – superando o recorde de 3,48 milhões que pertencia a Adele com o álbum “25”, lançado em 2015.

Mas, mais que o número absoluto, o que chamou atenção foi a estratégia por trás dele: ao final da primeira semana, Taylor já havia disponibilizando pelo menos 38 versões diferentes do mesmo álbum, entre edições físicas, digitais e box sets exclusivos. Muitas dessas variantes do novo disco trazem bônus como versões acústicas, áudios do processo criativo, vídeos extras, ou até voice memos de composições ainda em rascunho.

Outras edições foram lançadas como itens limitados, disponíveis por apenas 24 horas, com capas exclusivas, cores raras de vinil e embalagens diferenciadas, fazendo com que fãs e colecionadores se sentissem motivados a adquirir múltiplas cópias.

A tática, embora bem-sucedida comercialmente, tem provocado reações mistas entre fãs e críticos. Para muitos admiradores da Adele, a tática de Taylor soa como “jogo de números” em vez de refletir puramente o apelo artístico ou cultural de um álbum.

“Adele bateu recorde com uma única versão. Taylor precisou de 40”, comentou um usuário no X (antigo Twitter). Por outro lado, fãs da Taylor veem as múltiplas edições como uma iniciativa inovadora e voltada para colecionadores.
